Dan is a seasoned communications strategist with nearly two decades of experience spanning Capitol Hill, campaigns, and non-profits.
He has led media and messaging for organizations engaged in some of the biggest policy fights of the last two decades; including healthcare reform, marriage equality, LGBTQ+ non-discrimination, and justice reform.

Prior to founding Drafter Public Affairs, Dan worked as a Vice President at M+R. He managed client teams whose priorities included advancing legislation on Capitol Hill and in state houses; strengthening media narratives for cases pending before the U.S. Supreme Court; supporting advocates working to protect local policies – like paid sick leave, minimum wage, and public health measures – from state preemption; and training organizations on best practices for building meaningful relationships with policymakers.

Prior to M+R, Dan served as Chief Public Affairs Officer at Freedom for All Americans, the national campaign dedicated to winning LGBTQ+ nondiscrimination. He’s also worked as a Communications Director on Capitol Hill, and for nonprofits including the Human Rights Campaign and the National Quality Forum.
